Targeted Equipment Addition Solves Ultra-Fine Removal for Concrete Sand Production
About the Project
A complete production line was installed and commissioned to produce sand for concrete production and other applications in the Asia Pacific Region. The plant personnel operate jaw crushers, cone crushers, vertical shaft impact (VSI) crushers, and vibrating screens as part of its production line. The plant uses granite and basalt rocks to make sand.
Ultra Fines Limit Sand Quality
The plant operators wanted to provide high-quality sand as part of their product offerings from the plant. The existing equipment could not process the materials to remove the ultra-fines to meet the requirements for high-quality sand for concrete production and other applications.
The Right Equipment for the Job
The plant operators contacted AMPCO Minerals for an equipment solution to enhance the production of high-quality sand. The AMPCO Minerals technical staff thoroughly reviewed the production line, materials being processed, and the existing equipment being used. AMPCO Minerals determined that a High-Frequency Fines (HFF) screen and an additional VSI crusher should be incorporated into the system to ensure the required specifications are met.
AMPCO Minerals supplied the HFF 2260-4B screen to the site. This screen is fully enclosed to minimize dust emissions, has low power consumption to reduce energy costs, operates without requiring water, offers adjustable and independent frequency settings to achieve optimal particle size distribution, and features an automatic cleaning cycle to minimize downtime.
Successful Integration and Commissioning
Following the installation of the HFF screen, load testing was conducted, and training was provided for onsite personnel responsible for operating the screen. The screen was successfully commissioned and integrated into the production line along with the additional VSI crusher to produce high-quality sand. The HFF 2260-4B and the additional VSI will process 100 mtph and provide 0.074 mm – 4.75 mm (#200 – #4 sieve) particle size sand, suitable for manufactured sand in multiple applications.
